Our story

How it started

The Aver story starts in 1991, when Terry Jr. went to work for a national sign company while studying electrical engineering. He was soon leading the installation team, then moved into corporate sales.

In 1998 he went out on his own. With his brother Vance and the support of their parents, he launched Aver Sign Company with one truck.

Where it is today

Since then Aver has added electrical and lighting services and grown to a fleet of 15 trucks and a team of more than 45 people. The next generation has joined the business, and the company is still based in Ferndale, Michigan.

The shop

A UL-approved manufacturer

Aver fabricates interior and exterior signs: monument, pylon and directional signs, channel letters and cabinets, canopy fascia and soffit systems, and vinyl and printed graphics.

The same shop builds one-off signs and full rollout programs, and our own crews install them.

In the field

From new footings to the tallest high-rise

Installs and service calls go out with Aver crews and Aver trucks. The work covers everything from new footings to the tallest high-rise signs, with permitting and project management handled in house.

Where we work

Michigan and the Midwest

Aver works across Michigan and the Midwest from its base in Ferndale, just north of Detroit. Customers range from petroleum jobbers and national brands to local businesses.
